What we do to help

  • Review the issuer, document format, signatures and recipient instructions.
  • Flag missing preparation before you order another record or arrange notarization.
  • Confirm eligible record retrieval or school coordination when authorized and available.
  • Explain the agreed scope, itemized quote and delivery options.
  • Coordinate submission, order updates and return of your completed documents.

Boston Notary Service is an independent service provider. The appropriate government authority issues the apostille or authentication certificate. Your receiving organization determines whether the documents meet its requirements.

Start with the document you have

Birth, marriage and death certificates

Ask the NH Vital Records Division or issuing city/town clerk for an apostille-ready record. NH law calls for the registrar or clerk’s signature and notarized acknowledgment. An ordinary photocopy is not a substitute. We confirm eligibility and authorization before arranging retrieval.

Diplomas, transcripts and school letters

Send your school’s name and the recipient’s exact request. A sealed transcript, registrar-certified copy and personal copy attestation are different documents. We help clarify preparation and review authorized school coordination. UNH offers registrar notary services for transcripts; each school controls its own release process.

Affidavits, powers of attorney and business records

We review existing signatures and certifications before recommending another step. Private signed documents and government-issued corporate or court records need different preparation. Have legal wording prepared by your attorney or receiving institution.

One request. A clear sequence.

01 / Review the route

Share the issuing state or federal agency and destination country. The document and relevant signature determine the route, not where you live. We can review mixed NH, Massachusetts and federal documents together, with separate certification routes.

02 / Confirm preparation and the quote

We explain the originals or certified records needed, available collection and submission options, and applicable costs. Wait for our mailing instructions before sending originals. An online request does not reserve an appointment.

03 / Coordinate submission and return

After you approve the scope, we coordinate the planned handling and submission. Return delivery is quoted through FedEx or DHL. Optional signature-required return delivery is $10 extra where the carrier and destination support it.

Current NH procedure and cost essentials

The published NH state fee is $10 per document. The additional same-day batch charge begins at 10 documents: $25 for 10–19, $50 for 20–29, and so on. It is not a $25 rush fee on each document.

Our service charges, record fees, travel and shipping are separate. The detailed guide covers Concord intake hours, mail preparation and document-specific procedures.

Plan around your actual arrival date

Tell us the date the receiving office must have your documents. We work backward through record preparation, receipt of originals, government submission, any further legalization and carrier transit. After review, we confirm proposed handoff and submission dates and the available delivery option.

Same-day intake does not promise same-day completion or delivery. Weekends, closures, school response times and preparation issues can change the schedule. Ask us to review an urgent deadline before purchasing rush shipping.

What to include in your request

  • Document type, issuing office/state and number of documents.
  • Original, certified-copy or notarized-document status.
  • Destination country and the receiving office’s written instructions.
  • Required arrival date and current document location.
  • Return country and any retrieval, school coordination or pickup request.

An initial scan can help our review. We confirm which originals are needed and where to send them. Share sensitive documents through the handling method agreed with our team.

Questions before you start

Can you help while I am outside New Hampshire?

Yes. Send your document details and location. We confirm authorization, mailing and return arrangements. For collection near the MA–NH border, include your town or ZIP code; coverage, travel costs and appointments require confirmation. We do not offer a walk-in NH office.

Does an FBI background check use the NH route?

No. FBI-issued reports use the federal route. Do not add a local notarization to an original federal document. List federal and state records separately.

What if the destination requires legalization?

Where an apostille is not the applicable route, state, federal and embassy or consular steps may be required. Send the destination and recipient’s instructions so we can review the sequence before quoting.

Do you provide translation?

You arrange translation with a separate provider; Boston Notary Service does not provide translation services. Share the recipient’s written requirements so we can review when certification should happen.

Does the government fee cover your complete service?

No. Government fees are separate from our coordination and any agreed retrieval, travel or delivery. We confirm the applicable quote before work begins.
