Which documents can we help with?
- Massachusetts birth, marriage and death certificates
- College diplomas, transcripts and enrollment letters
- Powers of attorney and notarized affidavits
- Certified court records and corporate documents
Who issues the apostille?
The Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth issues the certification. Boston Notary Service provides preparation and submission assistance. The document’s origin and destination determine the appropriate route.
Our process
- Review: Tell us your document type, issuing authority, destination country and deadline.
- Preparation and submission: We explain the required document format and coordinate the appropriate steps.
- Return delivery: Arrange pickup or tracked domestic or international shipping.
Do all documents need notarization?
No. Official certified records and privately signed documents have different preparation requirements. Let us review your document before adding a notary stamp.
What if I have an FBI report or an out-of-state record?
These require a different issuing-authority route. Tell us where your document originated so we can identify the appropriate service.
How long will it take?
Turnaround depends on document readiness, quantity, office schedules and shipping. Ask us to confirm the available standard or expedited option for your request.
Start with the document you actually have
A certified government record, a school-prepared document and a privately signed statement do not start in the same place. Tell us whether you have an original, an official certified copy or only a scan. A photograph or ordinary photocopy may help identify the record but is not automatically a submission-ready document.
If a new record is needed, discuss the issuing office, eligibility and authorization before ordering. For university documents, confirm the registrar's preparation and release instructions. For attorney-prepared documents, obtain the signing instructions before arranging a notary appointment.
Keep Massachusetts and federal work separate
An FBI report does not become a Massachusetts document because you live in Boston. Likewise, a record issued by another state needs review of that state's route. If your packet includes different issuing authorities, list each item separately so the quote accounts for the necessary handling.

Prepare a useful request in a few minutes
- Document type and issuing state or agency
- Destination country and receiving organization's written instructions
- Number of documents and whether originals or certified copies are ready
- Required arrival date and current document location
- Pickup or return-shipping destination
- Any translation or recipient-specific preparation instructions
What your quote should make clear
Ask which review, retrieval, notarization, submission and delivery steps are included. Government charges, service charges and shipping are different parts of the job. We confirm the agreed scope and available handling before work begins. If you are unsure what a document is called, start with a short description and ask how to provide it for review.

Choose the service around your document’s starting point
Already have an eligible certified record? Describe the issuing office and existing signature or seal. Still need the record? Include the event, court or entity details so retrieval can be reviewed. Need a private signature notarized? Send the document provider’s instructions before arranging the visit.
Do Massachusetts and federal records go to the same office?
No. An FBI report and a Massachusetts vital record are different authorities’ documents. A notarized statement does not convert an out-of-state or federal record into a Massachusetts record. List mixed packets clearly so each route can be reviewed.

Massachusetts records for clients across the Commonwealth
The issuing authority determines the apostille route, whether you are requesting help from Greater Boston, Worcester, Springfield or while living abroad. Identify the Massachusetts issuer and the country where each document will be used. A federal report and another state's public record require separate review rather than being treated as Massachusetts documents.
Prepare a complete apostille request
List each birth, marriage, court, university or corporate record separately. Tell us which originals are ready, which certified copies still need retrieval and whether multiple recipients need their own sets. For Boston-area pickup or a notary appointment, provide the address and availability. We confirm local logistics, certification scope and return delivery before work begins.
