Preparation & service details
Need a notary for a prepared affidavit, power of attorney or other personal document? Boston Notary Service coordinates mobile appointments in Greater Boston after reviewing the requested notarial act, signer count, location and timing.
What notarization does
A notary performs the applicable notarial act, which may include identifying a signer, taking an acknowledgment or administering an oath or affirmation. Notarization does not establish the truth of a document, determine its legal effect or guarantee that a recipient will accept it. We do not draft legal documents or provide legal advice.
Prepared powers of attorney
Have your attorney or receiving organization prepare the document and explain its use. Tell us the requested notarial act and any witness requirements before scheduling. A notary cannot choose the type of power of attorney or advise you on the powers it should grant.
Affidavits and personal statements
Bring the completed document and recipient instructions. Do not sign an oath-based document before the appointment unless specifically instructed. Each required signer must participate in the applicable notarial process and meet identification and readiness requirements.
Single-status and official records
A personal single-status affidavit is a sworn statement. A Massachusetts Negative Statement is a record-search result from the relevant records authority. These are different documents; neither should be substituted without the receiving organization’s approval. Official birth, marriage and death records generally require certified copies from their issuing authority, rather than a notary-certified photocopy.
Prepare for your appointment
- Share your document type, location, signer count and preferred time.
- Ask the recipient which notarial act and witnesses it requires.
- Have acceptable identification and your prepared documents available.
- Tell us about facility access, language or mobility arrangements in advance.
- Confirm the service scope, travel charges and quote before the visit.

Which notary service fits your paperwork?
This page is a starting point for prepared personal documents and routine statements. If your request involves a power of attorney, estate packet, passport consent or copy attestation, tell us that at the start. Those documents may need different preparation, signers or witness arrangements.
For one person or several family members
List the documents and identify whose signatures need notarization. If everyone cannot meet together, explain the locations and time windows before requesting a price. Having a complete packet and clear recipient instructions helps us plan the actual visit.
What should I ask before booking?
Confirm the appointment location, identification requirements, which signatures should wait and whether witnesses are needed. Ask for any printing or return delivery to be included in the quote. We can coordinate the notarial appointment while legal questions remain with your preparing professional.
Request a mobile appointment
Appointments, urgent visits, evenings and weekends depend on confirmed availability. Outside Greater Boston? Share your town or ZIP code so we can review coverage and travel pricing.

Personal document notarization at an agreed local appointment
For a prepared authorization, declaration or affidavit in Boston, Cambridge, Somerville or Brookline, send the document type and recipient instructions. Identify whether the recipient supplied a notarial certificate and whether anyone else must sign or witness the document. We can review the permitted appointment scope without selecting a legal document for you.
Before choosing a mobile appointment time
Confirm that the signer can attend with the complete document and acceptable identification. Let us know about multiple signers, language-access needs, printing and any requested return delivery. For an international application, share the country before the visit so additional apostille preparation can be considered. We confirm location coverage and the agreed quote for each request.
