Need a certified Massachusetts record for an overseas application, business filing or family matter? The first step is identifying the office that holds the record. Boston Notary Service helps clients request records and, when needed, coordinate the separate apostille or authentication process.
Choose the record before choosing the service
Birth, marriage and death certificates: identify the relevant city or town clerk or state records office.
Court records and divorce judgments: identify the court, parties and case number when available.
Corporate records: identify the business’s legal name and the filing or certificate required.
What makes a copy certified?
An issuing office certifies its own record. A printout, scan or ordinary photocopy is a different document format. Before ordering, ask the receiving institution whether it needs an issuing-office certified copy, an original signature, a recent issue date or another specific format.
Details that help us assess your request
Record type, full names and approximate date.
Issuing city, town, court or business filing office.
Purpose, destination country and any written receiving-agency requirements.
Deadline, number of copies and return-shipping preference.
Record retrieval and apostilles are separate steps
Retrieval obtains the record. An apostille or authentication verifies an eligible official signature for international use. Massachusetts state documents and federal documents follow different routes. Do not assume a notarized photocopy can replace the issuing office’s certified record.
How Boston Notary Service helps
We discuss the record source, any authorization or access restrictions, available retrieval options and return delivery. If the record is for use abroad, tell us before ordering so we can consider the appropriate document format. Government charges, service charges and shipping are separate costs; request a quote for your specific record.
Availability and document access
Restricted records may require identification, eligibility evidence or permission from the record holder. Release and processing depend on the issuing office. We confirm the scope and estimated timing before proceeding rather than promising that every record can be retrieved immediately.
