Your academic records. A clearer plan abroad.

Start with the overseas recipient’s written requirements. Confirm the record, destination and required arrival date before ordering a replacement or arranging notarization.

Start with Northeastern University preparation

Identify the exact Northeastern record and school or program, then ask the Registrar for current preparation instructions. Provide the overseas recipient’s written requirements. Use our main Northeastern guide to organize the next questions.

Choose the exact record

A diploma, transcript and enrollment or degree verification letter answer different requests. Ask whether the recipient needs one record or several and whether it accepts a verifiable electronic credential.

Check that the required degree or enrollment information appears on the record before placing an international-use order.

Confirm preparation before sending originals

Ask which signed, certified or notarized version the registrar can provide. Do not add a notarial stamp or alter a school-prepared packet without confirming the required route. Keep record procurement, university preparation, government certification and delivery as separate tasks.

Your request checklist

Include the school and campus or program, exact record type, number of documents, destination, recipient instructions, required arrival date, current document location and return-delivery country. Note which records still need to be ordered.

Understand timing and the quote

University production, registrar preparation, government handling and shipping each affect the schedule. Faster delivery does not necessarily shorten the earlier steps. Ask what the service quote includes and which charges apply to collection, preparation, government processing and return delivery.

Get help with the remaining steps

Boston Notary Service can review your request and confirm available preparation or coordination assistance and a quote. Tell us which tasks the school is already handling so the service covers what you need. Wait for confirmed mailing instructions before sending originals.

Ask about registrar notarization before booking a visit

Northeastern’s Registrar lists notarization coordination when a campus notary is available. Ask about availability for your specific record, which preparation is included and what authorization is required. Do not assume a private notary appointment is needed before receiving those instructions. BNS can discuss the remaining coordination once the school’s role is clear.

A preparation message you can adapt

I need to use my Northeastern record outside the United States. The recipient has requested the following document and certification. Could you confirm the correct ordering process, any signature or notarization preparation, and how I can authorize release if I use a document-coordination service? Include your school or program and attach the recipient’s instructions through the university’s appropriate channel. Keep passwords and student-account login details private.

Avoid a deadline built around shipping alone

Work backward from the recipient’s arrival deadline. Identify the record-production step, any registrar preparation, government handling and final delivery as separate stages. Ask which stages have confirmed dates and which are estimates. If your transcript still needs final grades or degree information posted, mention that before requesting rush handling. BNS can then discuss a practical scope and delivery plan rather than quoting around an incomplete packet.

Use Northeastern’s record-specific request route

Northeastern’s current notarization page directs transcript and enrollment or degree-verification requests through its Notarization ServiceNow ticket. Diploma notarization has separate diploma instructions. Identify which record you need before choosing a request route, and include the registrar’s response when asking us to coordinate the remaining work.

Common questions

Does every overseas use require an apostille? No. Ask whether the recipient accepts an official electronic credential or requires paper certification.

Can a private service issue an apostille? The relevant government authority issues it. A private provider coordinates the agreed preparation, submission and delivery.

Does certification guarantee acceptance? No. The recipient’s record, translation and application requirements still matter. Share those instructions before work begins.

Boston Notary Service is independent of the university and is not endorsed by it.
