New Hampshire Apostille Service & Document Preparation Guide

Your New Hampshire documents. Your next chapter abroad.

A new job, an overseas degree program or a citizenship application should not leave you guessing which document to order or where to send it. Boston Notary Service helps coordinate NH document preparation, apostille or authentication submission, and return delivery.

Start with what you have—even if you are unsure it is ready. Share the document type, destination and deadline. We’ll review the next step and confirm the available service and tailored quote before work begins.

A clear plan in three steps

  • Tell us about your documents and where they will be used.
  • Confirm preparation, service scope, timing and costs with us.
  • Arrange the agreed collection or mailing, submission and return delivery.

Living outside New Hampshire? Include your current location. Have NH and Massachusetts records together? List each document so we can review the routes as one coordinated request.

Start your NH apostille request

Include “New Hampshire” with your document details.

Which documents can we review?

  • NH birth, marriage and death certificates
  • Diplomas, transcripts and school-issued letters
  • Powers of attorney and personal affidavits
  • Business documents and corporate records
  • Court records and other official documents, subject to signature and preparation review

Each category has its own preparation requirements. Send the issuing office, document type and recipient instructions before arranging notarization or ordering replacement records.

1 · Confirm the document and destination

The relevant signature and document origin determine the certification route, not simply your home address. Share the destination country, receiving office, purpose and required arrival date. We review whether an apostille or a different authentication/legalization route is needed. Certification authenticates an eligible signature or seal; it does not verify the document’s contents or guarantee acceptance.

2 · Prepare the right version

Vital records: Ask the NH issuing office for a certified record prepared for apostille use. NH law requires the registrar or clerk’s signature and notarized acknowledgment as part of this record. An ordinary photocopy notarized by a mobile notary is not a substitute. If you need a new record, we first confirm retrieval availability, eligibility and authorization.

Academic documents: Start with your registrar and ask which certification or notarized signature the recipient needs. A sealed transcript, school-certified copy and personal copy attestation are different products. UNH’s Registrar offers help when a notarized transcript copy is needed; other schools set their own procedures. Campus pickup or registrar coordination is quoted only after the school confirms authorization and availability.

Personal and business documents: We check whether an eligible NH notary public or justice of the peace signature is required. Let us review any existing notarization before you sign again. Notarial acts must be performed within the commissioned officer’s lawful authority. Court and corporate documents need individual review; do not alter an official certification.

3 · Coordinate submission in Concord

New Hampshire apostilles and certificates are handled by the NH Secretary of State. Its published request form lists a $10 state fee per document and the submission address: State House, Room 204, 107 North Main Street, Concord, NH 03301. Mail requests require the completed form, correct payment and prepaid return envelope.

Our quote covers the agreed service work separately from applicable government fees, record costs, travel and shipping. In-person availability does not guarantee same-day completion. We confirm document readiness and the available processing option before promising a collection or submission date.

4 · Plan translation and return delivery

Tell us your source and target languages and share the receiving office’s written translation requirements. Some requests involve translation of the attached apostille; others involve separate authentication of a translator’s certification. You arrange translation with a separate provider; Boston Notary Service does not provide translation services. Share the provider’s and recipient’s instructions so we can review the sequence of the apostille or authentication work. Domestic or international tracked return options can be discussed with your request.

NH and Massachusetts documents in one order?

We can review a mixed-state packet and coordinate the appropriate routes. For example, an NH vital record and a Massachusetts-notarized affidavit need separate state review. Holding commissions in both states does not make the two routes interchangeable. FBI-issued reports use the federal route rather than an NH state apostille.

Pickup near the MA–NH border

Ask about local notarization, collection and document coordination. Give us your town or ZIP code and preferred timing. Coverage, travel charges and availability are confirmed individually; no walk-in NH office or automatic appointment is implied.

Before you request a quote

Have the document type, issuing office/state, document count, destination, recipient instructions, deadline and return location ready. If you already have a certified or notarized document, say so. An initial scan may help us review preparation; we will confirm which originals are needed and where to send them.

Common questions

Can I order while living outside NH? Yes—start with the document details and your current location. We confirm any authorization and mailing arrangements.

Can you rush it? Ask us to review the deadline. Preparation, government processing and shipping all affect arrival.

Does the $10 state fee include your service? No. We provide a quote for the requested coordination, travel, preparation and delivery.
